Introduction To Multi-Day Sea Kayak Touring
Sea kayak touring has its roots from Inuit hunting where the hunters needed to be in tune with their surroundings and even considered one with their environment. In today?s terms kayaking is a great way to interact and communicate with nature. Exploring on all levels.
This two and a half day course encompasses the basics of sea kayak touring so that you will be comfortable on your own tours and feel the Inuit spirit.
Duration
This two and a half day course is divided into an evening session that covers the theory and preparation considerations for touring and a weekend for camp out and sea kayak touring.
Location
The evening session will be conducted at our Alberni Outpost store in Country Club Mall.
The practical session will be on the water at one of three locations just outside Nanaimo. This location will be decided in session one.
Prerequisites
Rescue skills and introductory paddling skills are necessary for this course.
Clothing & Equipment
You are expected to provide you own clothing suitable for wilderness activities in the weather and climate of the west coast. You are also to provide your own camping equipment that is suitable to the weather and climate of the west coast. A detailed list will be provided at the evening session.
